At Higham Way our services are usually led by our Minister, Church Member or a guest. You are likely to find something different but hopefully inspiring and interesting going on within our services. Here is what you can expect:
Arrival and Welcome: If you have driven (postcode is LE10 2PX please ignore the one at the banner at the top of the page) you are welcome to park in the right as you enter or past the church building and behind the church facing the garden. If there is not space please park near the church on the street. When you enter the church doors there should be someone to shake your hand, give you a notice sheet and welcome you. Please don't be nervous we are just glad you wish to worship with us. Please sit where you feel comfortable, nobody has "their place" in this church.
Service start: Our service will normally start with a song at 10:45 and then notices. Usually, this is followed by a video, prayer or reading depending whose leading.
Songs: We sing a variety of older hymns and newer songs.
All age Talk: This is a section for everyone to get involved as they feel comfortable, there maybe a challenge to get them involved or a thought for the day around an object.
Sunday School and creche: We have a Sunday school for children above the ages of 4 and creche for younger ones.
Sermon: Usually unless it is a family celebration service the sermon happens why the children are in Sunday Scool this usually lasts 20-25mins.
Communion: The last Sunday of the month includes Communion which recalls Jesus last supper with his friends on the night before he was crucified. It is a symbolic meal of bread and (non-alcoholic) wine.
Tea and Coffee: This follows the service and is a great chance to get to know new people and chat with old friends. This is served from the hatch in the main hall.
Sundays through the month vary on the first Sunday we have a more relaxed style or worship with more modern songs. On the third Sunday, we a family prayer time for all ages and the Sunday School let us know what they have been learning at the end. The fourth Sunday of the month is a more traditional service with more older hymns then usual. The second Sunday is a mishmash of all of these things.
The best way to experience what Higham Way Baptist Church is like is to come and worship with us.
